The principals of Fusion Building Company have been in the construction industry for over 40 years. This strategic amalgamation has brought together decades of collective experience and expertise, paving the way for the creation and success of our premier full-service build and design company.
Steven Berger
Chief Visionary Officer
Steven D. Berger has been a Chief Visionary Officer since 1991, starting at Berger Realty Group, then at First Choice Building and Maintenance, and now at Fusion Building Company, where he oversees all commercial and residential construction projects.
Career highlights include supervising the construction of The Polo Fields, a residential community with an 18-hole Championship Golf Course in Ann Arbor, and managing the construction of North Star Reach, a 105-acre site in Pinckney, Michigan, with 26 buildings dedicated to a not-for-profit camp for children.
Steven graduated with high honors from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction Management. He is licensed in Michigan as both a residential builder and Real Estate Salesperson. Steven has served on the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association of Southeast Michigan and the Michigan Association of Home Builders, and is a life member of the National Association of Home Builders.
Michael Berger
Chairman
In addition to his work at Fusion, Mr. Berger serves as President of Berger Realty Group. In this capacity, he manages a diverse real estate portfolio, including over 5,000 apartments, 13,000 self-storage units across 28 locations, and three golf courses. He has also overseen the development of residential communities with more than 1,000 home sites.
An attorney licensed in Michigan and Illinois and a licensed real estate broker in Michigan, Michael holds a law degree from Boston University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan. He remains actively involved with Cranbrook Educational Community, serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chair of its Finance Committee. Additionally, he has served on various boards, including the Henry Ford Health Foundation and the United Jewish Foundation of Detroit, where he is currently President.
Ryan Guenther
Vice President
Ryan E. Guenther has been with Fusion Building Company (formerly First Choice Building) since 1999. As Vice President, he oversees and manages all construction projects, ensuring their successful execution.
Mr. Guenther has led a variety of projects, including custom home building, condominium conversions, site planning and development, apartment renovations, and build-outs for retail, medical, and office spaces.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction Management from Michigan State University and is a licensed residential builder in Michigan. Ryan is a member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan.
John Aschermann
Chief Operating Officer
As the Chief Operating Officer at Fusion Building Company, John Aschermann manages daily operations, oversees construction and renovation projects, and drives business development to enhance company growth and efficiency. Before joining Fusion Building Company, John was the Vice President of First Choice Building and Maintenance, where he managed all operations within the construction division. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Property Management at Berger Realty Group in Southfield, Michigan, where he oversaw the operational performance of a multi-million dollar self-storage portfolio.
With over 25 years of experience in managing and leading teams in luxury hotels and private country clubs, John’s background as a hospitality executive has refined his skills in operational excellence and customer satisfaction. He is an active member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan, underscoring his dedication to the industry and its standards.
Diane Isaacs, CPA, CGMA
Chief Financial Officer
Previously, Diane served as CFO at Berger Realty Group and Freedomview Management Company. She began her career at Price Waterhouse and gained significant experience as Accounting Manager at Tama, Budaj & Raab, PC.
Diane is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the Commercial Real Estate Women of Detroit. She is also dedicated to community service, volunteering with Gleaners, the Michigan Humane Society, the Midwest Beagle Rescue, and other non-profit organizations.
